I wanted to share a recent experience I just had, buying an item from a Canadian seller(though not on Photrio), that was shipped to me in the US. I'm sharing this because of the hesitance I see with many Canadian sellers on this forum.
Note that this is by no means a guarantee of what everyone will experience, but it's worth sharing.
Other notes:
- Country of origin for the product is still important
- Total cost of item being shipped is still important
My purchase was less than $200 USD and when I was communicating with the seller about our shipment trepidations, I started to do more research. In my line of work, a part of my job encompasses fulfillment for an e-commerce company and we often handle international shipments from the US. We'e found that 3rd party shipping services who offer DDP(delivered duty paid) are without a doubt more reliable than going directly through the major couriers. What I found that kept coming up in conversations online is from a Canadian company called Chit Chats.
The shipping cost for my package size 13x10x4 inches and a weight of around 2 lbs cost $19.03 USD and included all duties, paid in advance by the seller, when creating the label. Services like these also handle all the paperwork that can often thwart cross border shipments. The seller shipped my item on Wednesday of last week(5/20) and it's already been delivered(5/26), all via USPS.
Again, just wanted to share for those curious on solutions for shipping from Canada to the US with minimal fuss and cost.
