I got my refund via eBay's usual procedures today. So no harm done. But it looks like nobody got their super cheap GP3.

As for why I stick with Fomapan 100 over GP3.....purely because I know Fomapan 100 and I love it. Trying GP3 would be something of a risk not because it's Chinese or cheap...but because I already have something I love at a price I can afford. I was willing to try a different product at a cheaper price, especially as it would allow me more use of my box and toy cameras. I'm reluctant to put Fomapan 100 or Rollei 400S through a Sinomax Diana clone.

I hear mostly good things about GP3 but persuading me to try something new when I can't easily buy one or two rolls is difficult. If I could take a punt by adding one roll of GP3 to a larger order with an established retailer.....

Can we move discussion of eBay ripoffs to something other than the GP3 thread?

Same MO as the fake seller I attempted to buy from....has a little feedback for selling pendants which are totally unrelated to photography and is offering GP3 at a "too good to be true" price.

Very funny, as I was browsing this very page an ad popped up from the bottom- fresh Shanghai GP3 10x rolls of 120 for 12.99, free shipping. I “bought” some from “yuaghong3”. eBay said 23 sold, 5 left. We’ll see.

I think you're fooled as I bought my ten-pack for more or less the same price at an eBay-er whose stats showed he (or she) had sold already several of them. Obviously, the film never showed up and I got my money back. Nevertheless, I hope you are the lucky one! Receiving film is way more fun than receiving a refund.

I didn't bite.

I've been seeing a lot of weird deals on ebay for film. Looks like it's the new scam these days.

I do hope the GP3 comes down in price though.

I fully expect you're correct. I thought it was particularly interesting that the ad popped up on my phone while I was viewing this very thread about vapor GP3 and eBay fraud!

Just as a matter of interest where is this film in stock? Thanks

It's not but instead of supporting the current crop of great films we already have people prefer to waste their time and money on the cheapest they can get. I would gladly at least try the film but where is it???

Cheap and worthless is one thing, but cheap and darn good is my thing. Cheap in this case (GP3) doesn't mean low quality or no quality, but at the current price it doesn't equate to cheap either. When the price and "newness" wear off the price will hopefully drop also. I'll be buying it then, but not now. I'll shoot HP5+ and FP4+ along with the Delta duo for now. JohnW

Oops, I suppose you mean where can actually buy the stuff. I don’t know.

Thanks all. Yes I was simply asking where you can buy it from a stockist. The thread started out with a title that indicated the stuff had returned and I wondered if I had missed that information. Otherwise we have had 9 pages devoted to what appears to be e-bay scams leavened only by some indication that the "proper" price does not render it the bargain that it was first time around.

In the U.K. I was able to find only one stockist whose price was little better than other comparable films on sale and the message there was that it was no longer in stock!!

Update on my "order" from the eBay ad that popped up on this very thread-- compromised account, money refunded. Oh well.

Just came across this thread. There are no GP3 deals on eBay as of today. Mostly, averaging about $5/roll either 35mm or 120. One seller, $30????????????? Yes, just one roll.

I played with the Shanghai brand, gosh, a dozen years ago? Fun to play with, try different developers. Probably as good as any film was in the 1960's or the next decade. Other than the 120 was notorious for curling.

But, goddess bless 'em, they have 3 1/4" x 4 1/4" sheet film! Did not exist a year ago. From anyone. Now all I need is a film holder for my Graphic. Or, ten.

When what appears to be a virtually non existent film being sold by e-bay sellers or is that seller in circumstances that warrant a refund for "non fulfilment" of the sellers' part of the contract, fills 9 pages on Photrio I wonder what Koda, Ilford, Foma etc think about our desires when they are selling quality film that we can buy?

I've bought a fair amount of stuff from China via eBay over the last five? years. One item non-delivered, they sent another right away. Often here way before promised.

Everyone likes to pile on China. They certainly did not get off on a good footing with their early quality controls and ecommerce. I even had a right from China gf some years ago and even she said, Don't trust the Chinese.

But if there is a third party involved, like eBay, it's pretty safe. And if you look at the seller ratings, many of the Chinese are right up there with anyone else.

I've recently bought some GP3 off Ebay shipped from China recently. 2 rolls of 35mm and then 2 more bought a week later. I received the first batch of 35mm in about 3 weeks. Im waiting on the second batch. So it looks like the bad listings have calmed down. Though China Ebay sales are known to have fraudulent sellers, of which I have first hand experience with. But most of the time they are okay. Im thinking of getting some 120 and 8x10 down the road.

@braxus do you have links to the seller/sales ?

Are you able to buy on Taobao? I have bought 4x5, 8x10, 120 and 135 format GP3 film directly from Jiancheng (劍誠), who claims to be the current “manufacturer” of Shanghai GP3 film.
