Hi Don
I use hundred of it for the moment and it works well.
The good things are:
- good reaction with pmk
- also good result in rodinam 1+100 20 min
- in Pmk I get N-2 but also get N+2 dev without any problem
- looks like Plus-x

The bad aspect:
- soft or unhard gelatin "really"easy to scratch, you should take great care when you handle it wet.
- curly curly , need a week in a book to stay flat.

Another great film is ERA 100 in 135, just a jewel , but I don't find it any more on the bay.

I had a hardening bath in my treatement for this film.

I think , even if I never try, that it reticulate easily.

I got a few rolls last year, curly like mad and easy to scratch but a viable medium. I only used it in my Yashica 635 TLR, but I was happy with the results
And I second ERA 100, I've got 10 rolls left and I'm quietly wishing I had more.

When I start using it , I use it in my holga . I just have to modify it because it create to mcuh scratch on this film. My eightbanners works well with it, so does high tech camera.

What hardener are you using?

I use the formula I found in the Adams's book a mix of formol and sodium carbonate.
I should add that I put coton gloves to handle the film in the darkroom, this avoid some scratch ( as you understand it is the problem)

Will check the book to give the formula.

did you expose the Shanghai with 100 ASA and develop in Rodinal at 20°C?
Did you find the hardener formula in the meantime?

I've use a couple of rolls of Shanghai 100 and ERA 100. Compared to that other Chinese film, Lucky Pan, these are pretty good. They curl a lot more than equivalent first tier films like Kodak, Ilford, and Fuji (which hardly curl at all), but otherwise not bad if you can get them inexpensively. I'm hoping that my friend brings back some Shanghai in 4x5 for me to try when she returns from China in a couple of weeks.

ERA100 is easily available now - sellers isaacchen in Taiwan and cowy07 in Shanghai seem to be the ones to go for (I bought 100 rolls recently from cowy07)

Ive used the Shanghai in 120 and 4x5 with D76 and with pyrocatHD with acceptable results. I agree about the curl in 120, but havent had much in the way of scratching with either size. For the price......

This is excellent, especially the part about looks like Plus-X. I just ordered 10 rolls for one of the eBay guys in Hong Kong several days ago to check it out.

There is a company in Calgary Alberta that sells GP3 120.It is called The frugal Photographer.You can Google it.They sell it by single roll or in multiples.It may be cheaper and quicker than buying it overseas.
