it's cheap and has nice tones. Works nicely I have the newer batch (2016) and has no backing paper marks. I've read on another forum that its the antihalation layer reacting with the backing paper ink that makes the marks. Solution is to pre wash the film (water comes out very blue) before putting the developer. What I currently hate about it is the letters "SGPF" (factory name perhaps?) come on on emulsion itself on top of the image and covers about 4mmx2mm off the image area so you'll have to crop your final image for scanning or printing.

Hi.
I have bought twice (20 rolls) and I have no problems at all ... . My only complain is the curl. Of course Shanghai is not Trix or Ilford... neither Foma, but I think is more than decent.
I decide to purchase the film when I read this post:

Good enough ;-)
I haven't reached that results but I'm overall satisfied ...

Regards
Antonio

Yes, I agree! Thank God those letters are not every one or two inches. Porous paper and the letter imprint are my only beef so far. JohnW

What was your expiration date and was it in a silver plastic wrap? I've only been really happy with the 2016 stuff so far. I'm keep one roll on the shelf, unrefrigerated, and will check it in a year(if I'm still around) to see if there is the number bleed through like the stuff I got before. Time will tell I guess. Oh! sorry for the late reply. Yes, silver/foil packaging 2016 stuff. Prewashed 3 times before developing if that matters or not ...

When it comes to film, I wouldn't go with the lowest bidder (cheapest available). Buy something that you like. It might cost a bit more, but in the end you will end up with photos that are predictable, because the film is predictable.

After all, the quality of the film has a role in determining whether you get the photo that you expected.
