Hello,

I slowly finish building my first 8x10 camera and I know that I will use film very rarely....mainly because of the price and simpler workflow.
A year ago, I tried paper negatives (RC grade 2) in a smaller camera and was surprised by the result. But they were just tests in home.
I am familiar with limited DR, significant contrast and orthochromatic emulsion.

Is here someone who uses paper negatives more seriously? Not just for fun or testing cameras.
Landscape, portraits, still life etc? Rather in LF camera than pinhole.

hi jan
there are a lot of people who would rather use paper than film
( i'm one of them ! ) i coat my own paper with emulsion too
( both hand made and store bought )
emil schildt is a photograper / artist / teacher in denmark
and he does an awful lot of paper negative work you might find him by
googling his name or "gandolfi" which he sometimes uses as a handle ..

have fun!

As for price, LFF forums have a long thread on using X-Ray film in large formats and how to handle the processing and nature of the sheets. At about 1/4 the price per sheet, great for experimenting.

X-Ray film is interesting, but I like paper for (excluding the price) easy workflow - does not suffer from fingerprints or scratches, is simple to develop, etc....
