Here's the most recent Internet window-into a dear friend's living work.

He doesn't read "dead trees" anymore, but in the early 60s, before he was wounded in Vietnam (where he shot B&W with a Pentax), he had become expert in Soviet Communism via https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Gulag_Archipelago and other traditional books.

I only mention Alan's ongoing creation because some folks continue to contribute massively to the value of the Internet. That's Alan's only medium, other than personal presentations at global meetings.

C;lick on everything you see here and most of it will open up to two more layers, often featuring stills and videos shot by Potkin. More a living library than book, it began years ago with Apple's now dead-and-abandoned e-book system.

The heavy tv watchers have gone to the internet and killed it.

For the 10 or so years they weren't around, it was a lot of fun.

A short attention span works to the benefit of those with a slightly longer attention span, be that of a few minutes, or a few millenia.

Adapting somewhat by including lots of photos and art in the books.

joseph heller, christopher nolan and wsborroughs seemed to do pretty well at it ...
so maybe there's hope

Note/apology...the link I hoped to share gave too much personal information ...LW Admin kindly removed that on my request. I hope to share a more public link when I figure out how to do that. JK
