D-19 has 52.5 g/l of carbonate and is used as-is, while D-72 has 80 g/l and D-72 is used diluted 1:3 giving about 20 g/l of carbonate. D-72 also contains bromide. Therefore, D-19 is much more active than D-72 due to alkalinity and having no restrainer.
