Maybe specific is the wrong word. I already know of exactly the tape I'm looking for, being Web-lock TH25 pink tape. But it is only available in expensive industrial-quantity cartons. But certainly there must be a more common brand just like it for hobby use in rolls. I'm talking about a double sided tape with no base at all. It's just the gum itself, rolled up in non-stick paper rolls. When I say no-base, I mean there is no plastic or acetate base at all, which has thickness. the weblock tape had no real thickness at all, as it was just the sticky gum itself. You apply it, peel off the brown paper liner, and all there is, is the gum. There's no plastic base to add to the thickness. I hope I've been descriptive enough. It's the best thing in the world for re-applying leather covers and foam while doing camera repair work. Certainly there is another brand of the same thing marketed to hobbyists. Thank you.

A common base for such tape is thin fleece, which becomes invisible once the glue is coated on.
The description of your tape explicetely has it about fiber technology, so fibers are at least incorporated in the glue, though may be not as fleece.
It is designed as splicing tape thus it must have tear resistance.

If you want to compare tapes you need the exact thickness specified by the manufacturer. You can then compare the various brands and decide how thin you need it. Saying a tape has virtually no thickness doesn't mean much.

I use Neschen GUDY double sided tape or Tesa Fotostrip 05338 (15mm) for mounting foam strips and also leatherette on camera's with good result.

Neschen (DE) has various sizes of mounting films for photo's. The GUDY double sided tape on rolls is available in various widths. The carrier foil (with adhesive on both sides) is 44 micro-meter. I think the Tesa tape is slightly thinner.

My experience is that thickness is not critical for mounting foam or leather(ette). For these applications I actually think a slightly thicker tape adhires better because the surfaces that are not perfectly flat. Note that we still talk about very thin tapes (not the stuff to stabilize carpets).

3M makes a mounting tape that is just adhesive, it's available in the chain craft supplies stores, last time I had a reason to look.
They also make similar adhesives that are much more robust for mounting trim and emblems on cars.

I worked in a company that us a similar tape for attaching silicone printing plates to rollers
in a printer.
If you like I can give you some to try. If it works out we can work something out.

I looked up the 3m transfer tape. It says it had a 2 mil base. Whereas the weblock 25 pink tape I referenced had no thickness at all really. If you successfully managed to strip the adhesive off the slick brown backing paper, it could not survive. Truly, it was adhesive with no measurable thickness at all.although I've seen some good ideas here. The weblock tape was made for roll-fed offset web presses, where a new roll of paper was spliced to the end of the he previous roll. The splice had to go through the press, which in itself was hard on the rubber cylinder blanket. Splicing with a tape that added even more thickness would have been damaging to the cylinder blanket. This was the purpose of Weblock 25 pink. Now that my roll of this tape I've had for 30 years is gone, I want something just like it. But it's only sold in cartons for hundreds of dollars. Its perfect for refoaming and reapplying leather on cameras. While it holds the leather on very well, it also allows the leather to be easily peeled back up for later service work. Please pardon the miss spellings. I'm not going to fight this spell check crap any mire
It is what it is.

For leatherette and camera repairs, the thickness isnt a factor... working temperature is. Once upon a time I did use the transfer tape you are looking for, but then switched to a better 3m tape that was as thin if not thinner than scotch tape made specifically for car trim. It can take harsh weather conditions and high heat without getting gummy. I looked at my rolls for a 3m product number but its not labeled. You can find that stuff in auto shops or online. See the links in the other posts above.
