I'm using this back for a camera build:

The bluish-gray metal bars atop and below the frame are what is normally used to secure this back to its original camera.

On the other side will be black ABS pipe:

I'm asking about a good, non-3d printed way to DIY a mating surface between them. I believe I will have 10-15 mm of space to work with for the material's thickness due to the focal length of the lens.

Right now I'm thinking about a piece or two of plywood, maybe with metal clips of some kind to secure the film back and some light felt/foam, a rectangular frame hole to accommodate that side, then epoxying the tube on the other side, maybe with some metal brackets and screws for a more secure fit.

If you've attempted something similar your tips would be appreciated. Materials, bracketing, techniques, etc.

Well I ordered some baltic birch plywood. We'll see how it goes.
