seeing with a Gossen spotmaster

I have recently aquired a "Spotmaster" in mint condition, and I love it, there is one problem though, in bright light it is almost impossible to see the readings in the window; is this usual and can anyone help with this? Cheers, Terrick.

Sadly, this is normal. Why Gossen couldn't figure out how to illuminate the display properly is a mystery to me. However, the meter is otherwise superb, and I love mine. Service and calibration from Bogen (in the US) is top notch as well.
