Sorry for being vague.

Hi,

With Japanese cameras, you really want to use Japanese JIS screwdrivers. I use a Vessel TD-56 kit with different sizes of
+ -, inexpensive and reliable. Also, I strongly recommend taking pictures of every step you do, that way you'll be able to backtrack and/or easily reassemble things.

Here's a picture of tools you might need.

Thank you so much for all the information. I have the repair manual but for the life of my I couldn't find a screwdriver that would work.

JIS look the same as the Phillips but they're slightly different.

Do not let you be fooled, the small "Philips" designated sizes of the german screwdrivers with that red cap, shown in that photo, fit perfectly.

I have so many of those little screwdirvers. I pick one that fits best for each screw.

Even better, custom make them. But with cross tips that would be hard.

I've found I had a screwdriver that works perfectly for 35mm cameras. It is a screwdriver to fix iphones, called iCracked 1.5mm x 30mm. You have to file down the center pin a little, but after that it has worked on many different cameras. It fits most JIS screws but not the tiniest ones.

I have heard good things about the German Wiha screwdrivers, I’ve never used them tho. I know Leica user on another forum who swears by the PicoFinish line.

I prefer the older version for ergonomics. And who knows how coatings evolve over time.

These JIS screwdrivers have been mentioned on various forums, and after having trouble myself getting one to fit a camera screw, I bought some off of Amazon from Japan, at a good reasonable price to boot!

Well worth buying.

My favorite "fine adjustment" screw driver.
