Screw Problem

Hi, first post here, longtime reader.
Recently purchased a Metz 45 CT-1 flash system to attach to a Hasselblad 500 C.
After acquiring the standard bracket/arm that comes with it (see pictures) I was dismayed to find out the screw is too short/doesn't fit in the camera despite fitting in other cameras I own such as a Nikon F.
Would greatly appreciate any help on the matter as it has already been quite difficult getting all the right parts let alone now that they don't work. Thanks!

Basically such screws existed in different lengths, and thus should show up in rummage boxes. I mean the grip not necesarily needs to be as flat as with the Metz one.
Another option would be to add on top of the existing screw a hermaphodite "case-screw" 1/4-1/4". Its male end is longer than that of your Metz one.

It is a standard thread, take it to an industrial hardware store or large hardware store to match the thread and buy a longer bolt.

-) To work with the Metz rail (bracket) the respective screw must at its lower part be thinner than the threading. Such parts are not available at the hardware store.

-) Even if the problem with the thinner stem would not be, the idea behind such screws is to fit the camera by hand. With a standard screw this will not work. What would work in the other case from the shelfs of a hardware strore is a wing-screw of apt length.

-) Of course one could fabricate an apt screw from something available at the hardware store, but if he would be inclined to do so the OP would hardly have asked here.

Metz once offered a special rectangular plate that goes inbetween the rail and the camera, intended for larger cameras.

That would be an alternative to the screw approach, yielding the benefit that one would not need spacers lateral of such screw to stabilize the camera against wobbling or undue stress on the thread of the camera as one would do if one would add a case-screw as I proposed.

Standard camera tripod sockets are 1/4-20 and 3/8-18. The Metz screw is 1/4-20.
