Every once in a while, Craigslist has a real deal. Today, I picked up these gems:

FG%20Post.jpg

Nikon FG, 50/1.8 Series E, a Five-Star 70-200/4.5, Nikon SB-15 speedlight and a CPC case.

All for a whopping fifty bucks! I think the camera will need new seals, but so far it all seems to be working.

Happy birthday to me!

Yes, it really is.

Love my little FG. Yes, it jams sometimes. Gotten good at opening the bottom and poking at the mechanism.

Is it okay to add one's own Craigslist score?

Nikon FE, winder, SB15, 50E, 100E -- $90
Rolleiflex Automat, Fujica 801st, 50f1.4, 28f2.8 - $100

Yes, it really is.

The SB-15 is a nice, simple, competent flash unit (also the SB-20).

As the manuals say, if you're not going to be using the flash for a while, once a month put batteries in it, turn it on, and pop the flash. This allows the capacitor to stay formed. It also gives you an excuse to play with it once a month.

Also, not only does the SB-15 head swivel, it can also tilt a bit, which isn't immediately obvious.

Love my FG, the F4 sees little use. Also have a FM-10 my wonderful wife bought for me in 99 I think. It was my only SLR for many years and it shows but still works great.

I picked up the wide model IBM Selectric II last week for 10 bucks. Cleaned and lubed it and it works like a top.

That's a crazy low price. Just one type ball, though, right?

Great find!

I bought the same body with the 50/1.8 E lens at a garage sale last year, also for $50. This is a great small combo for 35mm shooting. Don't know about the zoom, but the SB-15 is a great flash - I've used it a lot on FE/FM and F3 bodies.

One issue with the FG is that some of them tend to drain the battery if you leave it stored with the shutter speed at anything other than M90 or B. Yours might be OK, but if you experience dead batteries within a month, this is probably the cause.

Cool
Boy did I have key envy of the "correction key."
I had to use a white out tape that put a white substance over what I typed. Not as clean as the "lift off" method.
Just had my wife's Selectric overhauled. So much better to type with than the junk that they call typewriters today.

Wow, if I had a camera that jams sometimes it would be my least favorite!

Wonderful find! Have fun with it.

I love Craigslist and have found quite a few gems there...including a full darkroom of high end gear.

That 'Craigslist' thing seems to be only in America area -- is there one in UK ?

UPDATE -- YES it IS in UK but I found on the For Sale section in my area lots of packets of DRUGS and 'Used Knickers' and other 'naughty' things going on ---

Really enjoy using my FG, a really underrated Nikon. Do check the foam seals though, easy enough to replace but the hardest part is getting out the old ones without getting muck everywhere you don't really want it.
My latest triumph from French fleabay is on its way, OM-PC, (OM40), Kiron 28-210, tripod and bag,, 2 euros + delivery, all said to be in full working order. Didn't really need it as already have Om2md, Om2sp & OM4, but. . . . . . . well you know how goes
