Schneider apparently has changed their web page, and I can't find any of their vintage lens data. Suggestions?

Wow... it was there just a couple of days ago. What a nice and useful historical archive it was. I printed out a few pages of that material... is there somehing specific you were after?

This leads you to a long list of PDF files. The list is in German, the files themselves are in 3 languages.

David

Thank you David.
Wow! Talk about detail.

Dan, thanks for repeating David's post. You're right... David's link led to the current Schneider archives.

This archive link does not have appear to all of the same material that was on the "old" Schneider site. Conspicuously missing is the serial-number/date list and data on the 1980's-era Symmar-S MC series. Also missing is the handy reference table of what size caps fit which objectives... a topic that seems to come up in this and other forums on a regular basis.

Other than that, this archive is wonderful and seems to have some archive material that I haven't previously known to exist. I only wish my knowledge of the German language was better.

I was able to get to the list and made a pdf file of it just now. However, it seems like a lot of the stuff there is broken at the moment.

Fro mteh FAQ (and my bookmarks list:

"No longer exists"

Did you see it in the new site, Dan?

Here's a little tip that worked in this case.

If you find a broken link to a favorite web page go to Google and put the full URL in the search box. In this case:
http://www.schneideroptics.com/info/age_of_lenses/
Goggle came back with the hit to the current page at Schneider but as many have pointed out the date tabel was gone. In addition to the link to the page, Google also had a link to a Google cache of the web page. which did have the old serial number table.
You can use the "Save As" feature of your browser to "cache" the page data on you own computer.

Of course this doesn't always work but it's worth a try.

Also, I don't know how long the Google cache will be available before it uses the new page for the cache.

Cheers,
Bill

Try this http://www.schneiderkreuznach.com/service/serie.htm , Brian, and turn down the hostility. It makes me want to ignore you and not help you.

Yes, I found it this morninga after seeing a posting on photo.net. Thanks. I guess Schneider has a message -- for me, at least: learn German. I'm finding quite a bit of good stuff at their archives that I ahven't seen before but it does take a bit of pussling to figure it out since much of it is in German.

Re: hostility... please see the PM I sent. I believe that is a better method of addressing that topic since there was none intended nor delivered.
