I am offering a Schneider Symmar-S Multicoated 300mm 5.6 lens in a Sinar DB board (the type with the manual override that lets you set the aperture on the board itself). The glass is in *mint* condition and comes with both original caps. The only thing about the lens that is not as-new is the beginnings of Schneideritis on the barrel inside both elements. It is more progressed in the back than the front but nowhere near as bad as I have seen on other lenses. And of course this is irrelevant as it has no impact on the performance. Just full disclosure for those who are picky (i.e. who plan to collect rather than use!)
The DB board is in mint condition also, and comes in a mint Sinar DB storage box.
I bought this because I wanted to swap the elements out into a Copal 3 shutter that I have. But it turns out that my "Copal 3" shutter is actually a mis-labelled Copal 3S...the mounting threads are 56mm not the 58mm required for this lens. At this point it would be faster and easier for me to sell this in the DB mount and buy a 300mm already in a shutter (so I know it actually fits!). I paid $250 on flea-bag (er, ebay) for this, plus $100 in shipping and duty. I'll eat the latter...I just want my $250 back.
If you have the rig to use this, or if you have a 4.5" Packard, or a spare Copal 3/Ilex 4 shutter kicking around then this is a great deal on an amazing piece of glass.
Pictures and shipping estimate to follow. Located in Toronto - local pickup is most welcome. Thanks!
