Currently looking to buy a Schneider IVa center filter, I've searched fairly extensively with no avail. Anyone here looking to convert theirs to cash?

Thanks

Have you checked out alternative CND filters for your lens?

http://www.subclub.org/fujinon/center5.htm

Ive read that pdf, ive found it increasingly even more difficult to find other center filters besides the Schneider ones. I have the Super Angulon 90mm XL f/5.6, I could go for a filter that has a smaller thread than 95mm, but I don't feel like loosing lens coverage. And simply put the IVa was designed for set 90mm lens, so in a perfect world its the one im looking for. I stand to be corrected if people have had success with other center filters on the SA 90mm XL.

As an additional note I have seen that Linhof Studio in the UK offers the older 82mm Schneider IV center filter as an alternative to the IVa. Would be interested if people have used a CF with a smaller filter thread than their lens with success.

It's great if you have to time to wait -- and eventually find one, but in the meantime you could consider a temporary solution. Then when you find what you want, you can sell the "temporary" one. That's basically what I did. They don't lose value at all.

The IV might work as a temporary or as a permanent alternative -- I don't know, but I would imagine that much depends on the film format you are using. If you don't use the full IC of the lens, a smaller CND filter probably will work fine. Easy enough to test.

I had the opposite problem. I had to go to a larger CND filter.

You need to search quite regularly, like @xkaes I ended up with 2 slightly larger CND filters. I found 2 Hoya filters on eBay listed as used, in fact they were new old stock from a camera store, and just under ÂŁ100 for the pair. Part of the problem is you need such a large filter, I'm not sure other companies made them as large as 95mm.
