Not the rarest of the Wrayflex models but still a very scarce and collectable camera. This is the 1A version (I think !)
Manufactured in early 1950's it was the only serious attempt by Britian to produce a 35mm SLR camera. Was very short lived due to pressures from far eastern manufacturers.
Beautiful craftsmanship and build quality it has a very different feel to most other cameras of this nature. The wind on and shutter mechanisim has the most gorgeous sound to it !
Camera is exceptionally clean.... no dings or dents whatsoever and all the leather covering is intact and in perfect order. There is a very small spot of deteriorated chrome the back lower left (see photo) but all the rest is near perfect. All shutter speeds including the slow ones sound good to the ear. The lens is a Unilux f2.8/50mm, it's in nice clean condition with no fungus/haze/scratching. There is some small signs of the usual micro dust as you'd expect with a 60 yr old camera. Looks straighforward to dismantle for cleaning if you wished. The pre-set aperture blades move very freely although there is a showing of oil on them.
I quickly ran a part roll of film through it and all appeared to work very well. Good frame spacing, sharp image, correct exposure and no light leaks at all.
Has its original leather case which is in superb order with no heavy creasing and all the stitching intact.
Asking price is 250 GBP
Painful to let this one go but needs must. A great addition to a collection and sure to maintain its value, or probably increase.
I'm in the Uk but should be able to post to most parts of the world (with a few exceptions, Russia for instance). I'll only send fully insured so please contact me for shipping quote.
Paypal is probably the best form of payment.
Can send more specific pictures to your email address.
Many thanks
