A lot of people use cameras to scan their negatives and slides. I'm wondering, would a Sigma DP3M camera make a good "scanner"? This camera has amazing resolution, and perhaps with a close up lens used it could make a now cheap scanner of very very high quality. Thoughts?

Thanks!

It depends on what quality you want. You can likely get the quality of an Epson scanner, but no more. I don't care much about the resolution, its the bit depth that is important to me, and digital cameras are somewhat lacking in that regard.
