I ran a pretty basic scanning test, which some might find helpful. This was not a super scientific test, and I can and will fine tune it over the next days. For now, I'm purposefully being "quick and dirty" to see if I can realize differences with "easy" scanning methods. No wet mounting, for instance (which isn't hard, but undeniably more involved).

I scan 5x7 on my Epson V750, using Vuescan. I ran some tests, comparing scanning on the glass ("8x10 transparency" mode) vs. in the Betterscanning holder ("transparency"), dry-mounted to the underside of the ANR glass. The holder has the film slightly above the glass. The results are pretty darn close, though note that I cannot use IR dust removal (for C41 and E6 film) when scanning on the glass, so it's a good thing I have the holder.

The results are linked below. I also threw in an image I sharpened in Topaz Photo AI. https://www.flickr.com/photos/kaiyen/albums/72177720331792450

This is on my B&J 5x7, with a Kodak Ektar 135mm, on Fomapan 200, in F76+ developer. Stearman Press tray, scanned in Vuescan, converted in NLP.
