Hey guys, im relatively new to this and I was wondering if anybody knew of a scanner that would scan all of the film, including the sprocket holes?

... I should be more specific, this item is not a scanner, but rather a film holder that is designed for scanning the full width (or very close to it) of a 35mm negative with a flatbed scanner that has a backlight built into it. I don't have any experience with one of these, I just came across it a while back and remembered it when I saw this thread.

Hmmm, doesn't appear that my original post with the link in it got approved for some reason. Anyway I was referring to a scanning mask, called DigitaLIZA, marketed by Lomography that is designed to show the sprocket holes in 35mm film. Just Google 'lomography digitaliza' and you should be able to find it.

Interesting product, but as I said earlier, you can put the film down on the platen and cover it with anti-newton glass...

It's just a holder that grips a tiny edge of film and lets you include rebate and/or sprocket holes, unlike most film scanner holders that encroach on the film area itself.

Page 44 of the Spring 2011 Freestyle Photographic Supplies Catalogue has the item Jeff Campbell is talking about. 'LOMOGRAPHY DIGITALIZA SCANNING MASK'. It's described as being for use with a modern flatbed scanner and allowing for scanning of sprocket hole photos. Worth a try perhaps.

I assume since the sprocket holes are to show it is 35mm film. A 2 1/4 film holder may be the simplest answer since one may have come with the scanner although it might let the film curl.

uncertain how this is any different to what PVia said in reply (twice). I also see that the initial poster (clubgibson) has not asked for further clarification, so perhaps he was satisfied with what PVia said?

Pellicle,

Not sure if the DIGITALIZA product was what PVIA was talking about, but am certainly sure I was not questioning his suggestions in any way. I am also sure that the only reference to the product in question was by Jeff. And so far as I know, offering information as to where the product might be found is a legitimate topic for this particular thread. As to the OP, I have no idea if he has been back in or not.
