scanner still not working

my epson v500 is still suffering from power failure. its turns on when plugged in but only for a little while. when it cuts out i turn it back on, but each time it stays on for a shorter amount of time. not a clue if its the power adapter or the scanner itself. it looks like its going to be about £$0 for a new power adapter so before i shell out for something that may not even be the cause of the problem does anyone have any suggestions/a power adapter they'd like to sell me?!?!

Any chance of finding a non-Epson power adapter with the same specs?

already scoured the net and theres about 3 power cable distributors in the country that supply it. contacted epson service and they said it sound like the power board in the scanner. sad times.
