Hi all,
I used to hang out in another popular photography forum, now it has gone almost completely digital. I got a pointer to APUG.org by someone in that forum. I read some of the posts in this forum and I like it, very technical and informative.
I am an amateur, I have a day job as a programmer, otherwise I am out shooting. I shoot 35mm, canon EOS 3. I used to shoot print (NPS 160) and Ilford panf 50/ delta 100, now I mostly shoot slides, Velvia 100F, Astia 100F. I love doing people photography, and "environmental portraits". I also like to do travel photography/street photography. I also do some abstract work. I am taking baby steps towards Medium format, digital wont catch up to it in the next 5yrs (may be), 35mm might dissapear or become too expensive, I dont know... to me digital photograhy is like taking a machine gun to go duck hunting... I dont think I am good enough to show you any of my photos
. I looked at some of the member photos and they are way way above mine... But I will post some eventually...
APUG.org has a lot of postings abt workshops, something that I have never seen on the other forum I was on. I live in Austin TX and would like to attend a workshop on people photography ( dallas/houston/austin area). Most of the workshops that I have seen on the internet are prohibitively expensive. Are there any local APUG member gatherings? meetings at coffee shops etc for chat?
