Don't forget the thickness limitation! I bought an Omega glass carrier for a backup and it was too thick to go into the slot. I am not near my enlarger right now to measure it otherwise I would. Something to look out for though.
It actually isn't that hard to make this yourself, and this way you can customize it to your own needs. I did a 4x5 and a 35mm for my LPL 4550. I started with glassless LPL carriers sourced from KHB - which they machined out to oversize. I installed coated optical glass from Schneider. Some careful measuring and shimming to make sure it is precise, but overall not very difficult. The machining by KHB was quite reasonable. High quality optical glass, custom cut is the expensive part.
Michael, I would love to know how you made a glass carrier for 35mm for the Saunders. I would love to have one dedicated to 35. Wouldn't mind the contact info either....
Reviving an old post...
I'm new to 4x5 photography and get my hands on a LPL 4550 XL. Trouble is, no negative stage plate and I can't find one anywhere. So I'm going to make one. The only dimensions I'm struggling with are the thickness (4mm I believe) and the inside width and length of the plate. The 179/178mm measurements noted above are for the negative carrier not the plate, if I understand correctly. With those dimensions and a 162mm for the hole in the middle, I can get to work. Thanks everyone.
let me know if you want more/different picturesCan anyone post pictures of the negative carrier plate, please? All I found is the small one posted in my previous post. Maybe a top shot, bottom and sides?
