I want that t-shirt.

Last I saw he was on RFF. Shame he no longer posts here, I enjoyed his work.

He is still around here, but, not commenting much... (there was a url link here which no longer exists)

Well... someone was paying attention!

Unfortunately Sanders probably has decided not to deal with the stupidity, intolerance and uncivility of certain miserable people. I have caught photos of his uploaded to the gallery only to be pulled a few seconds later by him.
I wish some people would either learn to be more open, or atleast more civil about their dislikes and allow the rest of us to enjoy the freedom of expression and beauty of art that doesn't fall inside their tiny little box of a miserable world.
Sanders McNew and some other photographers are what keep APUG from being a botanical and architectural technical exhibition, which compared to other photographic forums and galleries, is pretty pathetic.

Thanks for posting the link. I didn't know his work, but it is interesting to see a different, and such honest, approach to nude photography.

Surely, the people that were offended by his pictures here on APUG, must never have visited any museum in their life? I can't see the issues here. Yes, it's direct, unflattering and above all human, but what's wrong with that??

His work reminds me of Lucian Freud, he takes the same approach, just with paint.

Holy cow. A thread with my name on it.

I don't want the thread to leave people with the
wrong idea of my decision to keep a lower profile
here and elsewhere on the web. I found that I was
spending too much time in web forums, that I should
have been devoting to photography, writing, and family.

I've found, here and elsewhere, that my photography
sometimes provokes angry responses. That's not a bad
thing, in itself -- it is meant to provoke in some measure.
Samuel Johnson once wrote that he "would rather be
attacked than unnoticed. For the worst thing you can do
to an author is to be silent as to his works." I stopped
posting my portrait series in online forums not so much
because of the animosity they sometimes stirred, but
because the medium disconnects the individual portraits
from their context as a series. If anyone wants to see
them, I use flickr as a kind of weblog of what I am
shooting, and you can find me there at

http://www.flickr.com/sandersnyc.

The SHIRT!

It is from a site devoted to analog photography, that
ran a short feature on my portrait series:

Dead Link Removed

Click on the "Store" link and you will find all kinds of
shirts and other stuff for purchase with the site's
logo on it.

Thanks, all, for thinking of me.

Sanders

Thanks Sanders for the clarification... and please post some more pics.

Yes, please. The series linked to from the article kept me looking and looking. I can't open them at school, but here at home I love 'em. The variety of beauty always astounds me and you show it so well.

Brilliant pictures, Sanders. You really should exhibit them somewhere in the real world as well. Maybe you do from time to time?

I have been a fan of Sander's work since the first time I saw it. I believe it to be a wonderful body of work.

I also have to agree with Ari's comments.

Sanders, if ever you do publish a book, I would be quite interested in purchasing a copy.

Mick.

Guys, you are all kind. Mick, I am at work
on a book of the series, accompanied by
essays on portraiture that I am writing now.
Every comment I post on web sites like
APUG, is a paragraph I didn't write for the
book. Procrastination.

Melanie beat me up for posting the subway
photo because it is "trite" and outside the
goals of my portraiture work. (She is right.)
To atone, I've posted selections from my
last two portrait sessions here on APUG:
