When I started driving about 1950, those knobs were known as "necker's knob" so you could operate the steering wheel with one hand while the other arm was around your girlfriend, a hazard in its own way.

I knew a fella that lost his leg driving a Dragster at the Drag Meets, after he was released from the hospital rigged his pick up with a motor cycle throttle grip to the carburetor, he had a manual transmission so he added handlebar brake grip from a bicycle for the clutch. Can never tell about those Canadian Dragster Drivers.

Did they make him qualify as a "rail" or as a "motorcycle"? Canada? I thought they called that "American ingenuity". Damn Canuck's are stealing everything. Next thing you know they'll be stealing our health care system. Ha! Ha! Boy, this thread sure did wander, but it was fun.

I wonder where Sammy's camera is - as well as the cameras of other famous people?

Ha ha Canadians don't steal. We borrow. Wait a minute... you have a health care system?? :D
Not for long! Soon everyone will have to fend for themselves. I might just have to move on the other side of the Detroit River just to have my prostrate check at a reasonable price. Damn Canadians just don't know how good you got it. Err, maybe you do?

If you want to see a knob on wheel in action, take a look at the film "Undercover Brother." The hero is a cool, solid cat of 70's vintage, drives a huge convertible that has an orange soda dispenser in the dash -- he can get a refill with one hand while driving with the other using the knob. Did I mention it's a comedy?
