Keith , what do you do for to make pmma do not stick to the mold after baking ? What is the mold material ? How much time does it need to heat the mold ? Is it possible to 3 cms thick 10 cms diameter lenses with this method ?
Do solvent cancerogen ? What do you use for heating ? Electric resistants ?
Who sells this material ? Is it possible to buy very small quantities ? Is it hazard material for air shipment ?
A lot of questions but needed to be solved , what is the price ? How many different solvents at the market ? How we can mix nanoparticles homogen in it ?
I hope you have patient to answer these questions , otherwise i will be needed to ask by telephone to pigs and i know i will not learn the answers.

I think the #1 reason salt is not routinely used for lens elements is that humidity would ruin the lens. I do believe I've seen reference in an older telescope making text to rock salt lens elements.

By the same token, early anti-reflection coatings were simply soap films deposited on lenses. Magnesium and fluorine compounds won out because they are more durable.

Rhodopsin Emulsion Single Crystal Gel Salt Lens with titanium for partial dispersion

Hello ,

How fast that 6 year passed since I opened that thread.

My mission is to make a anamorphic ultra large format lens and film.

I found if I can design a cylindrical lens mold out of two cut steel pipes and cast a single crystal NACL Salt optical material in to the two surfaced lens mold , I can survive investing and try to protect a expensive lens.

If glass ULF photographer makes his film , he can cast few lenses a week and use them at his studio.:pouty:

To cast your single crystal- ultra clean and big easy optical solids - , you need gel method described in paper.:pouty:

For taking 10 000 000 shots out of single film , you need to add rhodopsin in pmma and you need blue laser to delete and red laser to protect the film 100 years. Its resolution is 5000 lines per milimeters. !!!!!!!!

I discovered that its possible to add rhodopsin in lens crystal.

By this way you can record your photographs directly in lens like Picasso did with fungus.
