Decades ago I bought a collection of old Russian photos from gypsies in Northern California.
You can see one of them in my Media (the Tsarevich).
These photos mostly depict European-looking people in Harbin, China. Some are dated "1924".
The photos don't suggest that they were Jews, but I have reasons to think that was likely for some.
Some Jews fled to Harbin due to pogroms in Mother Russia, others were shipped there by the Tsar for political reasons. Others may simply have seen opportunity. Much later, some were kidnapped by Reds and shipped back to Moscow to be slaughtered. A few were allowed by the Chinese Communists to go Australia in the late 50s.

If you (dear reader) have any information, photos, or personal history related to Jews in China, India, or elsewhere in Asia, please say hello.
I'm working on a photo-derived project and I hope to share some of what I learn. Struggling, I can read a little Russian but not for comprehension.
