From here, take 203 south to 202, head east on 202 to 18, take that to 5, drive about 40 miles to 101 North, drive that 10 miles to 8 west, about 10 miles of that and you're on 12 headed west to Aberdeen, then drive about 1500 miles south on 101 (yes, in WA, 101 does some weird stuff, including having a 60 mile section or so of roadway that's marked East/West - also the only part of 101 where you can travel south and either have the mileposts go up or down - in Oregon, they go up, but don't go back down).

It really sounds like you all are planning a party at my house. Let me know so I can stock the fridge.

Good luck and party on dudes and dudesses!

Has the box been replaced and the camera sent? I'm still waiting...:munch:

Yeah, sorry all, it's exam season (and you can tell I'm studying hard, being on here instead). Last exam starts in 3 hours (coincidentally, 'image processing' although it's all digital). I've got a few boxes of stuff including the travelling cam that are getting posted first thing Monday morning...

any news ?

So what ? Any news from the camera ? Still in Oz ?
Calling the Doctor...

Do not rankle the moose...

So am I right in thinking the camera hasn't moved past the first three names on the list after over a year?

This is fun, no?

It's been over a year and we're only on number 3?? Yikes! Let's get a move on.

I was hoping to photograph Kyoto in summer, then had to change the plan to fall foliage, now maybe some bare winter photos if it gets here within the next three months...

:whistling:

Hmmm, no, it's a little exagerated :whistling:
We have moved past the sixth stage :

1. Sile - Ire
2. Steve Smith - Eng
3. TheToadMen - Nl
4. Raphael - Fr
5. Andrew.Roos - S Afr
6. Dr Croubie - Aus
^
| Camera is here (or we think so )

7. Mooseontheloose - Japan
8. Walburgh - Man Can
9. Matt King - WaUSA
10. Flatulent 1 - Wa USA
11. John_Nikon_F - Wa USA
12. K Jupiter - Cal USA
13. Ned L - Cal USA
14. Toro Mike - Colo USA
15. A M Baker - MO USA
16. MALongmore - NY USA
17. Newt_on_Swings - NY USA
18. Shawn Rahman - NY USA

So, we have done one half of the globe with the camera, there is just the other half to do...

Then, WHERE is the Dr Croubie and the camera ? Did he finally posted it ?

Can't believe it, I'm in the hole. On deck here I come. Better start warming up. PS had to use a baseball analogy because hockey doesn't have one.

So ETA is three years! How long have the previous traveling camera journeys taken?
Actually... I seem to remember that we all thought it was fine to wait a while for the post situation to settle so the camera could go to Africa.
I can't remember the theme now... We are supposed to buy selfie sticks, right? I hope the camera isn't loaded with PanF!

There are still three ahead of me, eh? Maybe it will have stopped raining by the time I get the camera. Keeping my fingers crossed!

At this rate, you can probably go back to your original summer plan.

Steve.

Whatever you do, beware of the self timer ..... (just read the journal when it reaches you  )

And watch out for the automatic flash, too.

In other news, it's finally posted! Woo!

Sorry for the delay, had a bit of a family emergency to deal with for the last few weeks, my partner's 100 year old grandma got taken to hospital and had emergency surgery. She's all good now and back home, but just means I haven't had time to go past a post office or computer lately.

I've sent it registered for sign-on-delivery, but they don't do track'n'trace to Japan. So hopefully it gets there (I've had stuff sent to Japan using english addresses sent back before, but the postage forms say you must use english addresses, no characters). So hopefully it'll be there just in time for the annual gift-giving man from the moon to deliver it.

Yay! Hopefully it'll be here in time for New Year's, lots to photograph then.

I'm backing out this time around. So, Fred, send the camera directly to Tim (k_jupiter) when you're done with it. Have enough trouble getting the motivation these days to take a couple shots with my own gear.

I'm still very reluctant to let you get away from this round, give it some more time and thought. After all, it's not like the camera will get to you any time soon.

That's the problem. By the time it's my turn, I probably will have completely forgotten about it. I've also given it, what, about 8 months of thought? Feelings haven't changed. So, I'll vicariously take part.

Sorry to hear that. I suffer from the same lack of motivation, but I'm hoping the travelling camera will get me off the couch and back into the real world again.

Of course, the other side of that coin is you're gonna cost me some postage, now that I won't be handing it off locally.
