Who would like to come shoot interiors (& exteriors) of the oldest congregational church in the US? This church, known locally as the Rooster church, is in West Barnstable, MA. I spoke to the minister and he said there shouldn't be a problem...just give him some lead time. Maybe in the next couple of months...

Probably not! Most likely on a Saturday... As we get into the new year (if we make it) I'll scope out some dates....

There is a review of Steve Rosenthal's photographs of New England churches in today's Globe (12/24). It could be either inspiring or discouraging, but he uses a 4x5, black and white, and a critical eye. And Mark Feeney's reviews are always worth reading if only for his elegant writing. All the more reason to go see the rooster church. Story here: http://www.bostonglobe.com/arts/the...nd-churches/GA4PrPEeWNpBqXm0Wn2pLI/story.html

The show of his photographs is at the BSA Space, 290 Congress St., through Jan. 31. 617-391-4000, www.architects.org/bsaspace

I'll be dropping in tomorrow to see the property manager about a date in the next couple months...to shoot. Stay tuned...

Meanwhile....anyone want to come down to the canal tomorrow to do some shooting...maybe the Sagamore bridge area or..whatever? Mid day sometime?

Let me know. Drew

I talked to the church management and we haven't settled on a day yet but it will be in March...One of the Saturdays and probably around 930 or 10 AM

to help get you excited...this is a write up about the building. (I am not a spiritual man and am not a member)

Ok...We're going with the last Saturday in March...the 26th. We can meet at the Cafe Chew at 8:30 and be at the church by 10am. If you have to miss the cafe part, you'd take the Mid Cape to exit 5, go three quarters around the rotary and head north over the highway. The church is just over the highway on the left opposite (surprise) Church Street. If you want to go to the cafe...just google it! It's near downtown Sandwich, next to the post office. Whitey and Bill would admit that the cafe part is a great foundation to the success of the days shoot!

Ok everything is a go but the date has changed to March 12th. If those coming to the Cafe Chew could call or send me a message the day before so I can get there early and set things up...that would be great.

This is turning into a full day event... We'll be sending Papagene and family off to warmer climates so don't miss out on this food-shoot-coffee-wine/beer- then dining in Plymouth event!

I might as well chime in here and make a formal announcement...
Eileen and I will be packing our bags (along with cameras & darkroom!) and heading to a new abode in Tucson, AZ. Eileen already has a new job out there and it starts early April. The NE-APUG crew is one of four groups of family/friends that we want one last hurrah to share. We're gonna miss all of you!
I look forward to photographing the southwest desert and sharing those images with all my friends here on APUG.

This was a little sad for a while... only the thought of a little bigger darkroom (12'x9' vs 7'x7') cheers me up:

Some thoughts on this saturday..try to arrive at the Chew no later than 0830hrs...and have a light coat or sweater as the outdoors patio area might be utilized (supposed to be around 50 degrees that day but not sure about that early in the day. Secondly, since there might be as many as 9-10 shooters, to keep people out of our views...half could do exterior shots and then switch later...Third, Be careful about the feet of our tripods inside the church...it is all soft wood floors and fourth, we can pull up around the circle at the door to drop off stuff but then have to drive up the hill to park the cars...

I would like to thank everyone for gathering. Developing some things right now, but most importantly i will say bon voyage to Gene and Eileen on the several next hectic weeks of their journey. That's what I say.

Those who took photos...if you are interested, pick one that you'd like to put on display. I'm working with management to set up a show/display of select images... Drew

Ps...send me some small JPEGs to show them
