Hey guys,

I recieved that Bay II Rolleinar filter 2. Below is a sample pic. Pretty impressed with the qualtiy and it's pretty tight. I searched out images shot with number 2 filter, and found it's pretty limited as far as samples. So if your curious, check it out.

the rolleinars are like the leica elpros (and the minolta copies of same) in that they are all two-element achromats, vastly better corrected than mere close-up lenses that are usually just single element magnifiers...so, yeah, a rolleinar gives pretty darn good results. I have all three.

Hello,
close up lenses reduce the focal length, so you have a slight wide-angle and wide angles are not ideal for portraits. The nose of the man is quite large in relation to his ears, a typical wide angle effect. You can take portraits with every lens as long as the distance is not shorter than 1,5 m = 5 ft.
