Not sure about the gold, but you can easily get replacement leather in all sorts of colors and textures. No idea about the gold, however. I guess someone could have done that or had someone do it as well. Hmmm
 
Soviet imitation. There's a Lubitel inside. I'm surprised that there are no swastikas and that it isn't engraved "Luftwaffe Eigentum."

I have never seen a Lubitel that was so sophisticated. They must have done an awful lot of work before it began to look like that.
 
I think Dan was joking with the Lubitel thing. It is a 2.8C that has some really bad hand cut covering glued on and some sort of gold plating. I have seen the gold plating done on a few different Rolleis. The price of 300 EUR is about right for an average ugly 2.8C.

The white leather job is atrocious. It looks like a middle aged man's wardrobe in the 1970's - white belt, white shoes, shiny green polyester leisure suit and a white polyester shirt with long pointed collar: a 'Full Cleveland'.

ok... I know Cleveland is pretty close to Point Pelee as the crow flies, but how the hell did you get into my closet? :D

You have to wonder how the camera handles with all the pimping it's had.
 
Nasty, I have seen some well done gold cameras this is not one of them.
One of the stores that I worked for had a 'gold collection', long story (remember before the days of mobile phones), the gold RB or RZ (?) got stolen, we phoned the bosses office only to be told he was at one of the other stores. The next thing we know he is walking through the door, pleased as punch because he has just bought another gold RB, cash - very cheep, it was his own property he had just bought from the thief !
 
Close to $5K for a fancy Rollei. Serial No.1. It probably will end up in a safe deposit box in Asia. I'd probably do something silly like use it.

There were some gold plated 'commerative' models made over the years. This could be one of them that has been recovered with the white material. It seems that brown suede covering was the original. See:

A camera that old? with a Xenotar lens - not Planar?
 
It's not a GX, obviously.
It's a 2.8C a.k.a. K7C. Early part of the 1950s.

I see it's from H.K, It's probably from the same guy I bought a Rolex watch from Hong Kong in 1961 when I was in the military, it looked perfect and kept good time, but when I got it back to U.K it stopped,and when I took it to a watchmaker he showed me inside the watch and all the mechanism was made out of bamboo:sad:, he said the difference in humidity had caused the bamboo to expand and stop it, however he wanted to buy it from me to show his watchmaker friends because he'd never seen anything like it

The wardrobe is referred to as a "full Chicago" worn by used car salesmen world wide in the 60-70's. Less common today but can be found a small dealerships throughout the US. Source: Car Talk w/Click & Clack, the tappet brothers via NPR.
 
300 Euro ... $400 for a 2.8 Rolleiflex??? I'd gladly pay that much. It'd be easy to rip that gaudy gold off and put some distinguished black on.
