Sure, things change. In 20 years I might change the list to include a box of viagra as well. We’ll see.

Rather than the Rolleis themselves, take a hint from ancient Egyptians and bury Minox Rollei copies instead and distribute cameras among us at APUG as momentous. You could also take along a clunker, since wherever your final destination, Heaven or He'll, there will be an adequate choice of repairman.

What do you do with 9 Rolleiflex cameras that 1 couldn't do?

Good question.

These cameras are a great example of excellent engineering combined with Love and passion. I believe that each and every Rolleiflex is unique, a personality of their own. Optically and physically.

My conundrum:

My 3.5f schneider renders so uniquely and beautifully. The images are sharp and yet gentle, caressing the subject like no other. Excellent all around

My 3.5f planar is sharp. Razor sharp. Excellent for landscapes.

My 2.8E planar had a separation problem. All 2.8 planars will end up with separation problems, mark my words.
I was lucky enough to have had focal point reglue and recoat my planar lens among his very last run when he closed shop.

And since I’m a nut, I had to have a 2.8E2 schneider... because my clear preference is towards the schneider lenses. So smooth, so beautiful.

And the Tele Rollei, for when you mean business.

And for the extreme cold canadian winter days when a thermal shock can (and will!) end up separating a lens, I needed a few more casual cameras. A 3.5A was in order, but since its tessar lens didn’t really steal my heart, I went on with xenar rolleicords. Those are cheap and so easy to use, so light and dandy, they eat film like no other cameras. And then I stumbled on a brand new rolleicord for 200$... brand new. Such a fine toy, such fine engineering. So sexy.

And then you enter the world of coated vs non-coated, lens designs, and even the beautiful yet simple Ikoflex novars... I have this particular ikoflex that renders soooo beautifully.

Yes, I see all the differences and I print non stop, so no camera is lost on me. Many don’t cut it, but the rolleiflexes are works of art and Love. Each rollei is unique.

My wife is going to cremate me. She'll probably throw all my cameras, including Rolleiflex's, Nikon, Leica, etc, into the incinerator with my body - just to clean house.

OK kudos to you, personally I can't see the difference between a Leica lens and a Nikon one so nevermind planar vs xenotar... you're missing a wide also haha

Brand new? Amazing, where did you find this gem? I have read of brand new Leicas because of collectors who put their Leicas in a safe deposit box, leave it there for decades, and then pass away. But Rolleiflexes? Regardless, enjoy it.

I also stumbled across a 'brand new' Rolleicord (#130xxxx) -- might have had a couple rolls through it. It was the same model as the one I was using at the time that was starting to have issues. The 'new' Cord had been neglected in Humboldt County for too long and the lenses had mold -- so I had the lenses swapped with my old Cord. So far, so good!
