Rolleiflex quick release tripod adapter

Pictures of both camera and Rolleifix, please. Something is wrong. The fit my Vb just fine.

It sounds like your back might be warped? When you sit the camera down on the bottom pins on a flat, hard surface can you rock it any? If it doesn't sit squarely on all four pins, then something is amiss and may be why your Rolleifix doesn't align properly. It might be helpful to post some photos of the camera back and Rolleifix.

All I can tell you for sure, is that the Rolleifix fit my Vb perfectly.

Took some photos, and I can see the base is distorted ever so slightly. I guess I need to find someone to repair it. I've heard Fleenor has a backlog. Has anyone used Steve's Camera Repair in Culver City for Rollei? I don't even know if he works on them and what his workload is.

Looks tweaked... more than I’d call “ever so slightly.

I use Steve’s for everything and never had a bad experience. But my Rollei hasn’t needed service in a long while so it hasn’t been to Steve. Last time it needed an overhaul I used a place in Thousand Oaks... but I’m not sure if they still exist or not. When it does need service, that’s where it will go.

Peiter12, I second Brian's comment and I'd bet that's why your Rolleifix doesn't fit properly. I'd also bet someone used it on a tripod at some point without a Rolleifix. Or, maybe, they fumbled the camera with the back open.

Hmmm... I think you are right, Alan. This does look like what would happen if, say, you had the Rolleicord on a tripd, bundled up the tripod, and walked along with the camera still attached. The metal disk which has the tripod mount and the door latch anchor would be stable, but the thin aluminum surrounding the metal disk can bend as the weight of the camera leverages against the base. Great example of what the Rolleifix is meant to prevent.

Peiter, if you have any experience with bending metal, it wouldn't be that hard to straighten this out. You have a large metal disk to serve a the leverage point! You could attach a standard quick release plate to the tripod hole and rebend the bottom. This plus a little delicate hammering in appropriate places would gets thing pretty straight. Be sure to check for any creasing or cracks that could cause leaks.

Interesting thread! I have a Minolta Autocord, and I've been wondering about using it on my Manfrottto tripod with a quick release head. Is there a Minolta equivalent; I somehow doubt that the Rolleifix device would work properly on my Autocord.

The Rolleiflex tripod plate is specifically for Rolleiflex. Because there are 2 knobs whcih needs to be locked into place
in the front of the plate to stop any rocking or movement.
