Rolleicord shutter release button

I've see a few pictures online of people using Rolleiflex/cords with what looks like a shutter butten screwed into the cable release socket so you dont have to use the cocking leaver.
I'd quite like one for my 'cord but I can't find any online. perhaps I'm not searching with the right words. Anyone know what they are called?

rolleicord shutter button accessory? I dunno -- what do you call a cable release that doesn't have a cable? my cord IVb came with one, others didn't. I suspect it was an accessory.

And you also need to hope for the best. I've seen three of them over the years. Two were bent or oxidized to such a point that they either were hard to push or wouldn't move back out. The third one was smooth enough for me to see that the basic release motion didn't work for me. My hands are on each side of the camera to control side to side motion. I don't have a hand on the top of the camera to control upward motion. And I also had a better feel for the shutter motion, when it was about to release, with the standard cocking lever release. Of course this was in ten minutes of playing, so time and experience could lead to me really liking the release.

I bought a couple of those for my Rolliecord. Bought it from incubine I think that was his name, on Ebay. Just search for med format camera and or accessories.

Ocassionally going through a strange problem when I use the shutter release pin.

- Once fired it still allows to cock the shutter and cannot advance the film either.

* Double exposure button is set to right position.

But never had the problem when I release the shutter lever.

I have one of these, but no photo at the moment. It is basically the end of a standard cable release that screws into the socket on the camera. Instead of the cable, however, there is a short length of rod protruding from the fitting. You push it in and it fires the shutter. The whole device is no more than 6mm long and looks like the end broken off a cable release.
I got mine with the camera. I don't think Rollei made them, but I believe the Rollei Club may have sold them. I don't always use it. I agree with the previous post that the original release mode may be better, given the way you normally hold the camera.

It seems that the accessory shutter release button doesn't acutate the "thing" that should free the double exposure prevention mechanism. Paepke Fototechnik should fix that for free if the camera is still under warranty.

They can be used with all Rolleicords from the II, type 6 (looks like a III), and forward. It could also be used on the first Rolleiflex Automat if you want a shutter release on the other side.

You would still have to cock the shutter with the leaver, but you can fire with the button instead.

what confuses me then is the OP

I do seem to have this effect on people..

I don't particularly like the way I have to hold the camera to fire with the lever. I think i might like to try using the button so I can hold the camera in way I feel more comfortable with.
It's not a big deal. I was just hoping someone in china was making a cheap screw in button I could try.

That is the one I bought, it works but is longer than the OME version.Don't use it much mostly the shutter cocking lever or cable release.

i've also been hunting for one of these since forever, as i really don't like the cock/release combination lever.

i remember reading somewhere they were original, but as the cameras are now pretty old, a lot of them have gotten lost when people took them off the camera for whatever reason... it would be great if there was a source for replacements or similar items -- i'd much rather have a release button than use a short shutter-release cable.

That's exactly what I've been looking for. There had been a couple of originals on ebay for a while, but I couldn't justify paying $30 for a part for a camera that cost $25 at a garage sale.

Get over it! . Just because you got a great deal on the camera you hesitate for a part that will allow it to work better for you? I've never understood this...I nailed a dusty and beaten 2.8E Planar Rolleiflex for like $150 in a small shop down some dingy alley in Beijing. Had no hesitation to get a full CLA and overhaul from Harry Fleenor costing multiple times that and even had a Maxwell screen installed for more!

Given that I have limited funds for this expensive hobby, it doesn’t make sense to me to spend much money on a part for a camera I rarely use. Experience tells me that a cheaper option will come around eventually, and patience has shown that it has. The money I saved went towards film to feed the cameras that I use weekly.
