Rolleicord III Type 2 stuck aperture blades

They are stuck to f/22 Is there any way I can personally repair them with any tricks or simple repairs. Or should I start calling up the pros right now (they are all booked for atleast 2 months in advance )

(After a second look) Im not sure that the aperture is stuck but the connection between the lever for selecting the aperture and the blades is no longer communicating. When I shoot on blub you can see that the lever can move freely as usual.

(After a third look) Oh dear. The front element of the viewing lens is missing and there are strange purple etchings (I assume it is fungus or where fungus has been removed) all over the center and edges of the taking lens.

Initial thoughts are that the taking lens was so damaged or ridden with fungus that it was replaced with the viewing lens and discarded. Is this possible???

I don't know how or where you got it, but you make it sound like: nice camera for parts, anyone ???
Sending this camera off to a repairman can be costly if not imposible to repair or are you joking us ????

I'm not going to attempt to repair this if it has a missing front element. Contacting seller about refund.

How the fungus appears on the taking lens. Ive never seen it around the edges like that.

I get what you mean, this looks BAD, around the edges it looks like lens separation + fungus.... somebody did not take care of this camera, a shame actualy.

It can't be separation if it's in the viewing lens, since it's a triplet with no cemented lenses.

Its the taking lens

However the viewing lens is missing a front piece of glass so I am very confused.

I suspect like the front of the camera was removed and the levers were not re-aligned properly upon re-assembly. Easy to fix. Taking lens is f3.5, viewing lens is f2.8. So you can tell if they were swapped. I was able to disassemble the element groupings and clean 95% of the fungus from my Rolleicord lens. I was lucky, most of it was just "haze." If it does not come off easy then its not coming off (damage to the coating and/or glass).
