I tried the one solution of having the thumb over the spool while winding the arrow on the backing paper to the red dot in the film chamber to give some tightening to offset this phenomena but this didn't do anything, in fact the overlap was a little bit more this time and the start of the first image went ahead by about a good half of an inch. All of the other frames are spaced correctly, it is only the first two frames that aren't. Is this a loading issue or a mechanical issue? My Rolleicord was CLA'd before I bought it.

Thanks

Most likely a cleaning issue. The drop of the pawl under light spring force into the first frame spot comes after a somewhat long length of the pawl sitting back. All the following shots don't have the pawl sitting back for any great length. If there is grease or dirt in this area it can cause things to hang. This is an area on a Rolleicord that should be very clean, no lubrication.

I thought I would update this thread. I had my Rolleicord cleaned and returned back to me about two weeks ago and the overlap still exists. I'll just have to accept it for what it is and just back up slightly away from the subject on the first two frames.

Why accept it like it is? Something is still wrong wth the camera. Won't the camera repair service you used take care of you? There should be no overlapping frames.

The idea I got was that there wasn't much that could be done. I had my Hassie serviced and the repair guy did an awesome job.

+1

Overlapping is unacceptable in a working, especially a freshly serviced, Rolleicord.

Past performance is a good reassurance. Sometimes they just don’t get it 100% right the first time. Let them know what’s going on. Hopefully they’ll take care of the situation.

I will have to get back with him then. It was cleaned, lubed and checked over. Maybe something did get missed. He did a super job with the Hassie and went the extra mile for helping with visual aids for the Hassie.
