If you scroll down the websites on your 2 links, and click on the "Lens Construction" links in blue, you'll see the lens optical diagrams. They appear to be identical lenses optically.

It has been a long time since I owned a Rollei but I believe the S lenses had the 1/1000 second shutter which is insanely high for a leaf shutter. The PQ's were just 500. Don't quote me on that, unless I am right. Lol.

I think your right, the only other leaf shutter that comes to mind with a top speed of 1/1000 was the leaf shutter on the Super Graphic which replaced the focal plan shutter.

PQS lenses go to 1/1000th, PQ to 1/500th. The PQS lens will be a newer one, possibly with design improvements over the PQ.

Yes, the PQS has a max shutter speed of 1/1000 sec. They are indeed the later iterations of the lenses though I doubt containing any changes in the optical formula but rather, more durable materials for the shutter blades to endure the faster speeds. In the Schneider lenses, the blades in the PQS lenses were made of carbon fibre.

The Rollei 6008 is an unsung marvel of MF, receiving scant attention from purists because of its reliance on batteries and electronics. The upside of this is that the cameras and lenses can still be had for reasonable sums considering the capabilities of the kit. I recently bought a virtually unused 6008 Integral 2 (with rebuilt batteries) and a Schneider 60/3.5 for $1500 and recently, a pristine Schneider Kreuznach 150 Xenar PQS for another $900. A clean but meterless 500 CM with a dismally dark focus screen and an 80 Zeiss pushes $2k nowadays.

I bought a 6001 as a back up body for my 6008af. $350 for a pretty mint looking body. You could certainly piece together a 6001kit for a lot less $$ than Blad's are going for. While everyone seems to be nervous about electronic cameras they have a lot fewer moving parts than their mechanical counterparts. And some of those mechanical counterparts have parts that are getting pretty scarce.

Agreed. The mechanical part shortage will become less of an issue for all cameras with laser printing; the greater problem will be finding skilled repair techs--not being replaced as experienced hands retire.

Electronics are hit or miss; many 'plastic fantastic' SLRs form the 90's are working just fine 30 years later.
