Rollei Superpan 200 and Ilford Perceptol

They give a development time for FP4+ EI 50 in Perceptol in the Perceptol datasheet. But at the same time they also provide times for higher EI's. I haven't been able to locate anything from Ilford that the 'real' speed of the film would be limited to 50. I doubt they'd say something like this.

If I remember right, they said so in the 1970s - then they only gave a time for 50ASA (as it was at the time). But it was FP4, not FP4+.

Thanks I appreciate that it has a lot of useful datasheets, a lot of which I have looked at. Hoever I was hoping you could direct me to where Ilford actually recommends using a speed of 50. Yes, as koraks has said it does provide a time for EI 50 but that is not the same as a recommendation

Did you mean that any of its times and speeds in the powder developers sheets ( Perceptol, ID 11 and Microphen) are recommended in the sense that Ilford would not state other speeds unless they were the right times for the developer and the speeds so in that sense Ilford recommends them since otherwise it would not publish them?

I think that all the data sheets have words to the effect that what they say is where a sensible person should start but if you don't like what you get, try something else. Today they give times for various speeds, as far as I remember in the 70's they only gave for 50ASA for Perceptol, but that was for FP4 and not FP4+.
The way I read them is that if you want 50, the best is to do this, if you want 100, do that. And they suggest only for a speed range that is within what they think reasonable - which of course is open for discussion. They also have lawyers

I'm pretty sure that Kodak have more lawyers than Ilford, being from the most litigious country in the world

OK. In that case I'll just have to make my own films and chemistry. I may need to "take-over" Photrio to do, given how many questions I have but at least Photrio has no lawyers, does it?

I know of at least two who are practicing, and one who is retired .

And by the way, if I had a choice between having a lawyer write something, and a photographer write something, and my goal was clarity, I would generally choose the lawyer
