Shot and developed a roll of Rollei Pan 25 this weekend using DD-X 1+4 for 8:30 with great results. Just thought I'd share this monumental piece of news.

Of course the images were test subjects, so posting a print scan would bore you to tears: skin tone study of an infant, sky/clouds, macro circuit board. Really spellbinding stuff.

Is it in 120 format? I would love to see the results, especially the ones you mentioned. Artistic they might not be but technically I would like to see the tonallities of skin, sky and clouds, etc
I have also been given a roll of 135 Pan 25 which I have yet to develop...

One more choice in the low speed world is good but at the price point it better be magical.

U.S Prices
120 Roll Film
Rollei Pan 25 : $5.49
Pan F+ : $2.79
Efke 25: $3.09

35mm - 36 Exposure
Rollei Pan 25 : $5.69
Pan F+ : $4.09
Efke 25 : $3.39

So what were your thoughts on it?

I will try to scan a few this evening US Eastern time.

Eric:
The Rollei Pan 25 in different than the Pan F+ and the Efke, all of which I shoot. The Pan 25 has a slightly finer grain, and has moderately more sharpness. For my needs of large 30x30 inch prints, it is my new favorite. As for cost, I am a trigger happy glutton for film, and am graphically reminded of my spendthrift ways when purchasing bricks of film. However, there is no substitute for variety. Had Kodak not decided to abandon its loyal film troops, I would never have left the fold of Technical Pan 25. I now have an expanded arsenal of slow speed, fine grain films from which to choose. Try it.

THAT'S the test I wanted to hear about... So? How does it pale in comparison to TP2415... Paradoxically, I have a stash in my freezer of all sizes of TP, but seemingly rarely dare pulling it out as the occasion is never quite important enough! Maybe if I had the fallback of the Rollei Pan, I wouldn't be so parsimonious with the TP...

So... we'll be the judge of that! Post away my man!

Niko-
Waiting till you have something important enough to justify using the Tech Pan reminds me of the Seinfield episode where Elaine jugded men on whether they were "sponge worthy".

My first attempt attaching files has resulted in the embarrasing revelation that I have no clue how to manipulate the size of an image. File size I can manage through resolution in scanning, but I am rejected on image size. My immediate solution is a posting to my personal gallery

Remember, these were test exposures for development evaluation. Not an attempt to get me back to an emulsion close to TP. I am a little slow in my approach, but the first roll developed in DD-X appears good to me. Under the scope the Pan 25 has slightly higher grain, but greater sharpness. I can't report skin tone results because my four month old was incapable of sitting still for a flashless exposure. He will pay dearly for his contumaciousness.
