I bought a replacement focus screen for my Rolleicord Vb hoping to get brighter viewing and easier focusing, but, unfortunately, the screen has thrown the focus point slightly off. That is, where I place critical focus per the screen is not where critical focus winds up.

Therefore, I'd like to put the original screen back into the camera, but I can't remember if it goes matte side up or down. I got some advice from a service repair person advising me about the direction of the fresnel grooves, but the fresnel etching in my screen is so fine I cannot really tell for sure which side has the grooves.

If there is anybody out there with a Rolleicord Vb that has the original screen, would you look at it and tell me if the matte or shiny side is up?

Thank you.

With the Sl66 series and the modern flexes, the matte side should face downwards. If there is a lense incorporated, the lens should face upwards.
