Hi folks. I don't suppose anyone has gone to all the trouble yet, but since I have the time, I am going to make a new cover to fit the advance knob on my Rollei.
I've cleaned up a pic of a good cover in Photoshop.
My plan is to possibly try the toner transfer method (i.e. print on glossy paper through a laser printer, then transfer the toner to a piece of brass.
I have cut my little circle of brass and I was planning to nickel plate it, but I've just remembered seeing some silver plated jewellery findings on ebay..

Jpg FilmWinder.jpg is attached, if it helps anyone

If you want to get serious about a new part, contact this place-

Precision etching and coloring. They can do two or three or more layers of depth, front and back if needed, variety of materials. I wish he would make a better web site, because his work is excellent. But he probably doesn't need a web site with his back room reputation. I used them for architectural models- mullions and building finishes, for example.

Not cheap- I think a 12x12 inch sheet is their minumum and it's probalby $100 plus for a sheet, but you could have them do the whole camera in new metal if you wanted. Or make a few extra parts for other people.

Drop them an email and see what they say. Include a link to photos of the actual camera so they can see the true effect.

Have you tried importing that image into Illustrator? Vectorizing it would remove the bitmapping around the edges (if it even matters to begin with.)

If I was going to make a couple hundred of 'em to sell, or if the camera was in pristine, as-new condition, I might consider a more expensive process.
As it is, my budget for this part is about five bucks. The camera has had enough use for the cover to go missing, and most of the other panels are worn.
At the size the jpg prints, you would need a magnifying glass to see the pixels.
Also, I don't need to etch the pattern in. I'm just going to transfer toner to the metal disc.

Hi Seth
Did you make any progress with this?
My Art Deco Rolleicord is pristine but this part has fallen off and I've lost it, so I'm looking for the same thing.
Regards
Mike
