Rollei 6001 HELP

Does anyone have any experience with the Rollei 6001? I have finally gotten all the bits togeteehr adn tied to load a roll of film according to the 6002 manual..... when I press the shutter release to advance to frame 1, nothing happens. I do not yet have a 6001 book..... ordered it and paid for it, but not yet..... thanks for any advice you give short of "dump the beast"

Not really remembering the specifics of the 6001, I believe it has a battery. Is it charged? If it is, check the fuse for the battery.

Dump the beast is bad advice, given the quality of lenses that can go on it. So, I have a 6001 Professional to my left as I write this. Let's start with are you using an interchangeable magazine, or the much thinner non-interchangeable film back? If it is an interchangeable magazine, make sure the drawbar that moves the laminar darkslide is all the way to the bottom of its travel, or nothing will happen. Now move to the left side of the camera and make sure the "ME/SE" knob is set to SE. Make sure you have charged battery w/good fuse inserted and locked in place with the little metal tab. Move to the lens, set the aperture anywhere but "A". Set the shutter speed to 1/500. Open the viewfinder. Turn the main switch to "on", check the finder display as you push the shutter button. (Make sure to unlock the shutter button). "BC" (battery check) should light momentarily, then the camera should fire. "W" means warning: recheck the lens and back if you see this. Will the camera fire without the magazine attached? PM me if this doesn't help. The current Rollei's are great cameras and the lenses are second to none.

Got it.....

The dark slide was not all the way at the bottom..... felt as if it were, but a llittle push and down it went and immediately went frame 1, as it should.... I am using the interchangeable back.... love the way it looks and feels..... I have been a Rollei TLR man for lots of years and thought I'd give thie a try.... thanks so much for you help....

The 6000's are nice cameras. I had a 6006 for about ten years, and as someone said great lenses. However as I do a lot of landscape shooting, I went back to basics - mechanical shutter and film transport. Depleted batteries can be a nuisance, and a couple of times the electronics went south. There is nothing more frustrating than pushing the shutter and having nothing happen. I went to a Hassy 503, but lately I have been using a Rollei 2.8E TLR. Lightweight, comvenient to carry and shoot. It doesn't have interchangable lenses like the 6006 or the 503, but it is mechanical with a built in light meter. I think either the 503 or 6000 series are great for studio shooting. It all depends on what you are doing, and how much you use a wide angle or long lens. Anyway the 6000's are great cameras, fun to set and shoot, or just point and shoot! Enjoy!
