Rollei 400IR Film Not DX Coded

I experienced an unpleasant surprise on my first outing with this film. The film can be loaded in subdued light, but I wanted to keep it in the plastic canister until just before loading to avoid any potential IR light leaks. So there I am, all ready to do some shooting. I've checked my batteries, cleaned my lenses, yes...everything's a "go". I'm excited! I then open the canister and load the film in to my Nikon N60, but the camera won't load or recognize there is film in it. Why? No DX code on the film! Apparently, at least this model Nikon will not load film without a DX code. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Check your owners manual. I am a Pentax man and own several AF bodies. All of them allow my to manually set the ISO if I want to override the DX code. I would be surprised if Nikon did not allow it. Also it is common for IR film to have no rated speed. This is because your camera meter will not read IR light and so most shutter and F stop combo set manually.

I've misplaced the manual, but from doing a quick search on the web, it appears that the film speed cannot be set manually on the Nikon N60/F60. I could always compensate the exposure if I could load the film, but that's the problem; without a DX code on the canister, the camera will not even load the film.

Indeed, no DX-code on the iso 400 film while in most cases you use the film with an IR filter on iso 12-25.

Strange that the Nikon not is going to the standard iso 100 setting like all my Canon SLR and Leica M7 is doing.

However you can DX-sticker your film.

It is true that this camera can only handle DX coded canister. Quite strange since I had the older F601 and it does have manual DX override feature.
