I have 3 Rollei B35's and love them. Like anything else, once you're used to it, quick and easy to use. I don't bother to retract the lens, because I carry it in a small case with a pocket digital, a 2X ND, and several rolls of film. I find the 40MM lens is a good 'middle of the road' choice. The negs are more than sharp enough. No battery.
They can't be as useless as somebody is making them out to be, considering one in good condition commands a pretty decent price, which means people want them. An excellent small camera.

72A7B2BB-74E6-494E-8577-B2CAB1EEA09B.jpeg I own and use the Canon QL-17 GIII, Oly RC and the Vivitar ES. All three deliver the goods. I find the Oly RC to be the most compact and enjoyable to use. The Vivitar ES (Minolta Hi-Matic 7sII), has the sharpest lens of the bunch.

For focusing my Rollei 35S for close distances at open aperture I use the 'Human rangefinder' https://tomchuk.com/misc/rf/ pasted as a small stripe at the lower edge of the camera back. Works great for me.

That's very cool! Have just printed out one for myself - will come in handy for my Rollei 35LED.
Thanks Heinz!!
