Rolled up a new roll of film. Help!

I accidently rolled up a new roll of film. The tab is all the way in. Any way to get it out?

You can buy a leader retriever at some shops or online. Or make your own.

take a new bit of film, cut it a bit narrower, then lick the emulsion side. stick it into the felt and rotate the the film spool a bit. then pull it out and you have got your leader back.

Yeah, buy a leader puller. They're a couple of bucks on evilBay.

If you find one from one of the discount joints that ships boatloads of junk in one box and buy a handful of knick knacks that you need then the shipping won't be more than the merchandise.

Or, as Newt says, use a piece of film. But I always found that harder than it ought to be. The plastic dohicky works great.

I managed to get the leader out. I ended up opening the roll, so I hope that the film is okay.

haha, I'm such a cheapskate these days.
After shooting 120 for awhile I am doing more 135 these days and it takes forever to finish a 36ex roll.

I have deep enough pockes and your post is cavelier and wastefull in the least. This is an issue that happens now and again and the methods for retrieval of the leader are valid and usefull.

If it is a factory case... it is VERY unlikely that the re-seal is light tight.

Huh? I've retrieved a lot of accidentally rewound leaders from factory film and never had one fog the film, even TMZ.

OP reposted saying he took apart the magazine... Ilfords from the 1980's were the only re-usable ones I ever ran across. You are correct that taking theleader out throught the felt should not damage the film... although I always do it in low light never outdoors.

Use a Dymo labeling strip.

I was shown a neat trick with a Dymo labeling tape. Those are those label makers that people use to put a label on a tool box or drawer that says 'screwdrivers' or some such. You peel off the sticky tape on the plastic label and insert it in the film canister. Wind the film a little until you see it pulling the Dymo label into the canister. You know now that it is sticking. Then pull out the Dymo tape and out will come the film. Nothing to it. I have done it several times. Or you can buy a $7.00 retreival tool. I prefer the 1 cent piece of tape.

Oh ok that makes sense and I agree. I seem to recall that Agfa had some that were reusable too.
