Hello,

After reading some good reviews I've looked for Roger Luo's changing bag (medium or large). But realised that he no longer makes them. So is there anything similar (washable, doesn't get too hot, and ample space to put in Jobo 1500/2500 tank, bulk film loader, few film cassettes and other required items) available in the market?

Thank you for your time and help.

Bests,

Calumet's changing tent is a big improvement on a changing bag. I have the largest bag Roger sold, and it's an excellent piece of kit; but a pup tent will give you much more room - and a much more user-friendly space - in which to work.

A changing box, originally intended for use by mini-labs, will also give you lots of room. They show up on eBay from time to time.

You can also stick a cardboard box into a changing bag for a makeshift tent provided you cut out arm holes.

I picked up a Fuji "film dark box" it's roughly 2'X2'X2' set up and 1'X2'X5" folded.
They're not common, and back in the day several of the reps doing darkroom demos would use them to demo how easy color drum processing was.

I guess with thev requirements you got a stiff box would be better than a bag. Consider building one from foamcore.
Plastic linings would be washable in contrast to cardboard ones. Consider in this caes lining the inside with Aluminium foil against static.
Look for clothing with sleeves with elastic cuffs. Test light-tightness. Then cut the cuff with a bit of sleeve off and mount it at the box.

When I need the bag to not fall on my hands, I put a cardboard box in on it's side, with the top (flaps cut off) facing the arm-holes.

Thanks for the tips, everyone. What would you suggest as a 'stupid-proof' changing bag? It is impossible for me to completely dark any place in my current residence.

In the mean time, I would be grateful if someone could post certain information on a large/medium changing bag of Roger Luo.

It may sound crazy. But if the materials are readily available, I might ask my mother to make one for me!

Thank you for your help again.

Dear Ashfaque,

I use Dead Link Removed for loading Jobo tanks through the 2500 series. I also use it for loading 4x5 holders and bulk loading 35mm film. In fact, I can load an entire roll while watching a half hour TV show and never removing my hands from the tent (avoiding that exposed last shot). Of course it is important to organize well before hand and ensuring an empty bladder. ;-)

Get a Harris, easiest to set up & take down. Had the Calumet/Photoflex, to complicated to set up/down.

Neal and Fotch: thanks a lot for your suggestions.

Fotch: Harrison has been on my wish list. It is beyond my budget now. Perhaps later.

Somewhat related, how is Paterson's 27.5x27.5 changing bag? Is it washable?

Bests,
Ashfaque
