Rodinal for international travel

Rodinal seems nearly impossible to ship overseas. Apparently it's hazardous and the only guy who used to do it from Germany has stopped shipping by "surface transport" due to new restrictions.

Now I wil be visiting Germany on work and intend to purchase a few bottles of this fluid and put it in my check-in luggage on the way back.

Is this permitted? What documentation/precautions should I take?

I thought this forum would have some practical experience. Thanks!

I looked up the specs inside Adox_Adonal_Film_Developer.pdf (found in freestylephoto) but couldn't make out much. See below.

PACKING INSTRUCTION 852
This instruction applies to Class 8 liquids in Packing Group III on passenger aircraft.
The General Packing Requirements of Subsection 5.0.2 must be met.
Compatibility Requirements
• Substances must be compatible with their packagings as required by 5.0.2.6;
• Metal packagings must be corrosion resistant or with protection against corrosion for substances with a Class 8 subsidiary risk.
• Substances of class 8 are permitted in glass or earthenware inner packagings only if the substance is free from hydrofluoric acid.
Closure Requirements
Closures must meet the requirements of 5.0.2.7;
Additional Packing Requirements
♦ Packagings must meet Packing Group II performance standards.
Single packagings are not permitted.
COMBINATION PACKAGINGS
Inner Packaging (see 6.1)

Net quantity per inner packaging

Glass 2.5 L
Metal 5.0 L
Plastic 2.5 L

Total net quantity per package 5.0 L


In theory, you can take 5 liters with you if properly labeled and packaged. I'd check with the airline before you try it.

You might want to try and get the shipping case that they come with from the factory, with a UN number... They must be double packed in approved containers as it is a corrosive substance.
