Hello Guys.

Despite my name sounds Italian I´m actually brazilian (all my father´s ancestors are Italian). So please forgive me if I make many english mistakes and feel free to correct me whenever possible. I would really appreciate that instead.

Henning Serger (Photokina Report) introduced me to apug.org a few months ago and since then I´v been following this forum. It´s amazing how many people are still into analog photography.

I´m not a professional photographer but I do work on a photography-related company. Not being a professional photographer allows me to shoot 99% on film. Digital only for a quick-load on internet. I like shooting 120 with Rolleiflexes (have 6) and sometimes 135 with Yashica FX-2.

Sometime ago my GAS was out-of-control but now I´m done with gear (ok, maybe a Hassel or two). Now I spend my money stocking films and on a near future I will spend some more money on chemicals. It´s almost impossible to find a place in Sao Paulo with a reasonable cost to develop E6, so I bought a Jobo ATL-1500 and will mix the chemicals to home-develop E6. You guys have already helped me with lots of information, thanks.

I run a "camera style" blog, saopaulocamerastyle. Unfortunatelly it´s very difficult to find someone shooting film in the streets of Sao Paulo to post only pictures of people shooting film in the streets like John Sypal does at tokyocamerastyle whose idea I borrowed. So I talk about the analog photography comunity in Brazil in general: people I know, places I go, stores, repair shops, developing places, etc.

Finally I would like to thank all you guys for this amazing place where I will certainly learn much, much more than I will teach. And sooner as possible I will make a donation ($$) for this forum.

Best Regards.

Edit: (there was a url link here which no longer exists) is my pal. I didn´t know he was also introduced to apug.org.

I guess coming across in the streets others using film cameras is a rarity for most people here at Apug.

At your blog
http://saopaulocamerastyle.wordpress.com/ I saw a camera in bright yellow I recently bought due to its colour. However, in that photo it is accompanierd by brothers in other colours... I guess your blog could be harmful to peoplle hoarding cameras...

E-6 home processing efforts

Hello all,

Excuse me gentlemen, I'm a newcomer to APUG and just caught on this thread which greatly interested me and so I decided to post this. I would like to address Mr. Miglioli in particular on whether he's been sucessful in trying to perform process E-6 at home. Nothing equals Fuji Velvia 50's color palette and naturalness in my estimation, and so I feel just 'half pleased' by the results digital gear provides me with. The ability to develop E-6 at home with ease and a good outcome is a very appealing idea indeed.

I feel much too worried now that Kodak has ceased all of its slide film production and at the same time we don't really know what Fuji's next move will be in the medium-term. Photography will be dead to me if I should find myself left with no options but digital equipment, whose color palette performance is in fact poor and exhibits a marked and noticeable decay in quality as illumination levels fall down, leaving but distasteful browns, greens and grays behind it - a synthetic-clad visual aesthetic we have come to witness everywhere. It's ridiculous the world at large bought this 'digital lie' unquestioningly as something sacrosanct and reacted monolithically without protesting. But I digress!

Please let me know what your advances have been.

Welcome Wram,
processing E-6 at home is perfectly feasible and many, myself included, do it normally.
I use a rotary processor, a Jobo CPP-2, which greatly simplifies things.
Strictly speaking though a rotary processor is not necessary and you will find people developing slides without it.

You will find plenty of threads in the forum about it. If you have any question, doubt etc. feel free to ask it in the Darkroom -> Color: Film, Paper and Chemistry section.
