What timing! I've enjoyed his essays but started getting his photographs a few months ago and I've never seen his original prints. I won't make the opening but I'll definitely see the exhibit.

I have long admired Adams' work, but have never seen his original prints. His latest book, 'Turning Back', was a disappointment for me. It seems to be more motivated by a cause (albiet, a worthy one) than by creative expression.

How would you compare your response to 'Turning Back' to, say, 'Listening to the River'?

I managed to unearth the invitation to the reception from the 'non-critical mail' pile. I'll try and make it. Carla will be travelling back from Portland that evening, and definitely will not be there.
