Ries J600 Tripod, Ries custom designed cordura bag, Ries J250 Double Tilt Head. This is a gorgeous piece of kit. Ries wooden tripods are known for their beautiful wood, finish, excellent machined hardware, rigidity and the fact that they work, yesterday, now and the rest of your life.
Ries J600 Tripod & case, J250 Double Tilt Head, $575. Shipping at actual cost from US zip code 44210, Bath, Ohio USA. For a shipping estimate Ries says the tripod and head are 10.5 pounds. I think the box and packing will add two pounds. I will weigh this Monday and report back. Paypal plus 3% or US Bank cashiers check. No postal money order please. The Bath, OH Post Office is so small it took them five days to accumulate $350 the last time someone sent me a money order.
I have used this for the last 5-6 years for my light weight, eight pound 8x10. As you can read in the following Ries text, it is primarily for a heavy DSLR, medium format, 4x5 and 5x7. At one point I realized my Mamiya RZ67, my Linhof TK45 and my RH Phillips 8x10 all weighed eight pounds each.
fits into a custom designed cordura bag that will work perfectly with your backpack . At age 74 I dont seem to be hiking other than being pulled up hills by Johns yellow escalator, two yellow lady Labrador Retrievers. It seems time to pass this on to someone who can use it better.
The wood is in very good condition considering the fact that I have used it. There are a few light dents but very few. Ries puts an amazing finish on hard maple. All parts are functioning properly. All parts are there and in very good condition. My wife and I have both worked cleaning the black bag. Once you have had a yellow Labrador, you will always have a yellow Labrador. There are a very few stray yellow hairs left.
The tripod has a 3/8"-16 screw to mount to the tripod head. The head has a 1/4"-20 screw to mount the camera. I have simply used the 3/8 bushing sold in good camera stores to mount the larger cameras. I am not sure if it is brass or bronze. This has worked for the last 5-6 years.
I stand behind what I sell. If you dont like it send the same one I sent you back, pay the postage both ways and I will refund your money.
